Welcome to the homepage for the 2020 Blavatnik Awards for Young Scientists in the United Kingdom. The nomination window is now open, and will remain open until 26th June 2019.
The Blavatnik Family Foundation and the New York Academy of Sciences are delighted to embark on the third year of the Blavatnik Awards for Young Scientists in the United Kingdom. These awards celebrate the past accomplishments and future potential of young faculty researchers working in three disciplinary categories of science and engineering: Life Sciences, Physical Sciences & Engineering, and Chemistry. Every year, one nominee in each category will be named a Blavatnik Awards in the UK Laureate and awarded US$100,000 in unrestricted funds, with two Blavatnik Awards in the UK Finalists in each category both receiving US$30,000.
Institutional nominations must be submitted by the institution’s Vice-Chancellor, Pro Vice-Chancellor, or the Vice-Chancellor’s official designee (official designees must notify BlavatnikAwardsUK@nyas.org of the delegation of responsibilities). A complete list of official designees for each institution can be found on our eligible institutions page. Each institution may nominate up to three individuals, one for each disciplinary category (Life Sciences, Physical Sciences & Engineering, and Chemistry). The Blavatnik Awards for Young Scientists in the United Kingdom welcomes nominations from all underrepresented groups in science and engineering. Self-nominations are not permitted.
If you have any questions or experience technical difficulties, please contact the Blavatnik Awards team at BlavatnikAwardsUK@nyas.org or +1-212-298-8608 (Monday to Friday, 9AM - 3PM ET).
